5 Self-Care Practices For a Joyful 2023

The New Year is right around the corner, and with it comes the opportunity to plant some new intentions.

There are likely some goals you have for 2023; things you would like to see come to fruition. It's a wonderful thing to look forward to something new, and to bring some cherished desires into your Life.

When you are wanting to manifest anything, it's important to create an internal atmosphere that can support your desires. It's akin to planting a seed in fertile soil. When you are preparing your garden for the Spring planting, you take good care of the soil. You water it, add fresh soil to it, till it; you essentially make the Earth viable to receive those lovely seeds. And once the seeds are planted, you nurture them, water them, and take good care of them until they become a beautiful, healthy plant.

Our inner world is the same way.

When we tend to our inner garden by taking care of our thoughts, engaging in self-care practices that feel good to us, and offering our mind and body tender, Loving care, then the dreams we have for ourselves have an easier time coming into full bloom.

As we prepare to step into 2023, I've compiled a list of five self-care practices to help you align with your intentions this year. Start small, choose one or two that resonate with you, and that feel easy to do. As that becomes a natural habit, see if you can add in another few.

Soon, your inner garden will feel full and vibrant, and the dreams you have for yourself will begin unfolding naturally, just as they are meant to.

Drink more water.

Your body is made up of mostly water. Your cells adore water, and your body thrives when it receives plenty of fresh, pure water. Do your best to drink a few extra glasses of water each day. You'll notice that you'll sleep better, you'll feel more energized, and you'll feel more uplifted overall.

Go to sleep at a consistent time each night.

A consistent bedtime is so important. A good night's sleep does wonders for your mind and body. Do your best to stick to a consistent sleep schedule. Unplug from your devices an hour or so before bed. Take this time to unwind, dim the lights, and prepare your mind and body for sleep. Take a hot bath, do some restorative yoga, use soothing essential oils, read an uplifting book, and pamper yourself. Let this be a time to nurture and soothe yourself into a restful sleep.

Pay attention to how you feel.

Your emotions are very, very important. When you make the way you feel a high priority, you are taking care of a deep part of your being. Let your happiness be something that you tend to this year. When you feel emotional discomfort, do your best to lean into the practices that help you feel better. When you are feeling good, ride that wave and let it become more. Do more things that make you happy. Think more thoughts that feel good to you. The more you care for your emotional state of being, the more you'll find that your Life will naturally improve on all fronts.

Journal your blessings.

I recommend this practice to a lot of my clients. Writing down your blessings on a daily basis is a very powerful practice. As you look for simple things to appreciate about your Life - just as it is now - you open the door to welcome even more blessings. Appreciating where you are is the key to aligning with all the desires that are ready to flow into your Life.

Be gentle with yourself.

Be mindful and aware of your self-talk. Notice the times when you are being hard on yourself, and make a decision to simply let that conversation go. Notice when you are engaging in conversations with others that feel uncomfortable, and make a decision to let those conversations go too. As you practice being kinder to yourself; as you nurture thoughts that resonate with Love, happiness, and ease, you are tending to your inner garden. You're keeping the soil fertile, so that your desires have a chance to sprout, and germinate, and bloom into full manifestation.

Take care of your inner world this year, and notice how naturally everything that you desire will unfold. The Universe is ready to bless you with all that you have asked for. Be good to yourself, and everything else will easily follow.
