My Top 3 Ways To Cleanse The Energy Of Your Home
The sun is shining bright these days, the air is warm and fragrant, the flowers are in bloom and our beautiful city is a tapestry of green. Spring is here!
There is a definite sense of renewal in the air. It feels like the world is coming out of hibernation; joyfully opening up to the magic that lies ahead.
Spring is naturally a time when we start to turn our attention to what we can release.
We want to shed our layers, let go of things we no longer need, and invite more of what we want into our lives.
Along with any Spring cleaning you happen to be doing, this is a wonderful time to do a Space Clearing for your home!
If you are a regular reader of this blog, you'll know that I always recommend doing a clearing with the cycles of the moon. For those who are working with deep transitions in their lives, this is a wonderful practice that can help support you more fully.
It's also a nice idea to do a ritual clearing for your home weekly. This helps to release any energy that doesn't serve you and helps you set your intention to invite more positive energy for the week ahead (Sundays or Mondays are great days for this!)
You can also do a clearing anytime you decide to clear clutter from an area in your home, if you are getting over an illness, break up, family / relationship issues, if you've recently moved, or if you simply just aren't feeling quite like yourself.
Clearings help to elevate the energy in your home, and cleanse out any lingering negativity that may be affecting your personal energy. They help keep the energy light and bright and support you in being the best version of yourself that you can be!
In the spirit of Spring and renewal, I'm sharing my Top 3 methods to cleanse your home energetically:
1. Smudging with white sage.
I'm such a big fan of white sage! It's one of the most purifying herbs out there, and one that I feel a special affinity to. Years ago, I spent a period of time in sweat lodges, working with medicine men and elders; and along with sweetgrass, white sage was always the cleansing herb of choice.
Smudging is one of the more popular methods of Space Clearing these days and one of the easiest as well. To learn more about how to work with sage and how to use it to cleanse your home, personal energy and your crystals, take a peek at this blog here!
2. Burning sandalwood incense.
Sandalwood is another very purifying woody herb. Along with clearing my home with sage during the full and new moon cycles, I like to burn a stick of sandalwood incense outside of my front door. The front door is known as the "mouth of Chi" in Feng Shui, and burning sandalwood here supports a more powerful and positive flow of energy into your home.
You can also carry a burning stick of sandalwood and walk around the perimeter of your home, envisioning beautiful, positive energy flowing into your space (just make sure you have an appropriate container to catch the ashes!) When you've completed your clearing, place your incense on an altar or in the middle of your home and allow it to burn out. Return the ashes to the Earth when they have cooled, giving thanks for their assistance.
3. Performing a fire clearing.
A fire clearing is a powerful, beautiful ritual that taps into the love and support of your angels, spirit guides and loved ones who have passed on. This type of clearing works on both the energy of your space and your personal energy. It is performed by a qualified Feng Shui Consultant and should always be taught to you, the client, so that you may continue to perform the clearing as needed.
Fire clearings are recommended when moving into a new home or workspace, after a renovation, after a major life transition (birth, death, divorce, etc.) or as a ritual performed during the cycles of the moon. It's a wonderful tool for those who would like to work with their angels and guides on a deeper level in their clearing processes.
Happy Spring and Happy Space Clearing lovely ones!
